While heading to Chios, some migrants in a dinghy got sick and lost their consciousness. SMH informed Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) four times about this event and requested permission to assist them at sea by sending a Rhib with medical staff. However, HCG replied that SMH was only authorized to provide medical assistance after landing. Once the dinghy reached the shore, the Greek Police did not allow SMH staff to provide medical attention to the migrants. According to Police reports all the migrants were healthy there was no need for medical attention.
